December 17, 2017The prestigious, and ever-glamorous Bingwa Awards made its debut on the Kenyan scene back in 2014. This annual event was put together to recognize and reward noteworthy musicians in the region. These awards were crucial in establishing and improving the overall quality of the music industry in the country. They have been slaying the awards scene, offering us a bit of the Glitterati. Red carpet, expensive suits, and designer hills never miss exciting the masses.
The platform was raised to recognize all the genres of music available in the region as a whole. The event seeks to include our fellow east African countries namely, Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, and South Sudan. The music awards have remained among the most trusted and recognized awards.
The Bingwa music awards as a company have set out to Make the annual event one of the most recognized in the region. As a company, they have promised to provide nonstop entertainment at every annual show. They have over the years featured phenomenal artists like East Africa’s kansoul, Sauti sol, size 8, Ali Kiba, Diamond, Jose chameleon, King Kaka, Octopizzo, Dj Joe Mfalme, Rufftone, Dj crème de la Crème, among others.
The event also recognizes fashion designers making a mark in the region. Radio personalities and comedians are not left unrecognized. Comedian Churchill won showbiz personality of the year in 2015. They also reward the brains behind the operations, these include producers and also video directors.
Thousands of votes are submitted before the winner is chosen. The company guarantees transparency stating that the fans’ votes hold absolute power. Transparency has been an issue at some of the Kenyan awards, and, it is refreshing to see a company that wishes to uphold this value.
The second annual show held in 2016 was a great success showing the region that they are always prepared to bring a good time. Sauti Sol took home the award for the East African artist of the year. Artists like Diamond Platinumz from Tanzania, Cindy Sanyu from Uganda, Knowless from Rwanda, and Mary Boyoi from South Sudan took home some awards. We want to see the rise of the music and entertainment industry among the best in the world. Nigeria has established its mark on the world and Kenya should not be left behind.
